Lookfantastic Beauty Box No2 Review

Hey Beauties!

Can you believe that in about 3/4 years of blogging, I have never tried any beauty boxes before? I’ve always meant to but it just seemed like a waste to me, why would someone spend £15-£20 on a box of samples that you could easily get for free elsewhere. So i recently bit the bullet and bought one of the Look Fantastic Beauty Boxes just to see if it was any good and to see what everyone else thought?

Lookfantastic Beauty Box No2 Review
In this box you will find 6 great products, I actually enjoyed most of them, maybe not the lipstick because I don’t like red or the Dr PawPaw Tinted Balm but besides that there are some great products in this box. I think this box would be best for those of you out there who are looking to try out new products without having committed to buying the full size. A negative I saw straight away with these types of boxes are there might be products in there that you can’t use or aren’t for your skin type which is rather annoying when say 4 of the products are the ones you don’t like or can’t
Ole Henriksen Empower Foaming Milk Cleanser
Ole Henriksen Empower Foaming Milk Cleanser
First product in the box is the Ole Henriksen Empower Foaming Milk Cleanser which transforms into a creamy lather to effortlessly dissolve all traces of dirt, impurities and makeup while helping to preserve the skin’s natural moisture mantel. Infused with antioxidant-rich arctic cloudberry to protect from free radical damage, omega-6 powerhouse nordic cotton extract to deliver weightless hydration and willow bark extract to gently smooth skin, I found this cleanser to work pretty well i used i with my Magnitone Fully Monty and it worked really well from what i could see it didn’t leave my skin feeling at all tight and did a great job of removing the days makeup
Kebelo Enriching Masque
Kebelo Enriching Masque
Next is the Kebelo Enriching Masque, before this box arrived i had never heard of this brand before but after a little research it seems to be quite a good brand offering a few interesting products. Kebelo Enriching Masque is designed for naturally dry hair, to give it the rich moisture it needs to stay smooth and shiny. The Enriching Masque by Kebelo contains natural powerhouse ingredients like guar sugar, grapeseed, bran and argan oil which we work together to repair and restore dry strands whilst mimicking the scalps natural oils, leaving dry hair feeling nourished and more fabulous than ever. This masque smells amazing it actually reminds me of the Wella Brilliance mask I think? I know its a high end product which smells the same I think it might be the grapeseed I’m smelling. I applied some of this to my hair after shampooing and even though you can’t tell how good something is after one use the Kebelo Enriching Masque made my hair feel so soft and made it look shiny as I have dry coarse hair I find this to be a big plus for this product
REN V-Cense Youth Vitality Day Cream
REN V-Cense Youth Vitality Day Cream
REN V-Cense Youth Vitality Day Cream is basically an anti aging day cream I have been using it for a few days, which is nowhere near long enough for a good review, but my skin definitely does feel softer when I apply it and it does feel a bit more hydrated Although it does take a while to sink in because it is a rather rich product. REN V-Cense Youth Vitality Day Cream is a multi-active day moisturiser that prevents and minimizes the signs of premature aging. Its complex of actives intensely hydrated, protects from free radical damage and smoothes fine lines and wrinkles while boosting skin energy and elasticity. Skin stays hydrated, protected and glowing.
Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel
Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel
One of my favourite products in this box was the Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel, which smells absolutely amazing. Korres describe it as a “fresh, fruity scent of blossoming” Korres Santorini Vine Shower Gel is a Soft moisturising shower gel, ideal for everyday use containing wheat proteins form a protective film on the skin, maintaining its regular hydration level, Greek wine grapes indigenous to Santorini and cultivated in the arid volcanic ash soil of the island. This mineral rich dark soil helps contribute to the grape’s uniqueness. The ancient vine variety goes back 400 years and remains phylloxera free. Growing on its own roots, the plants thirsty leaves capture sea mist water, which drifts across the island at night. There’s just something so calming and relaxing about using this its perfect to use after a long day.
Bellapierre Mineral Ruby Lipstick
Bellapierre Mineral Ruby Lipstick
Bellapierre Mineral Ruby Lipstick has been formulated with natural waxes and mineral pigments, iron oxides and antioxidants such as Vitamin C and Vitamin E. The smooth silky 100% natural formula delivers long lasting nourishing colour. The mineral pigments also provide natural protection from the sun and do not contain any lead, lanolin, parabens which means this lipstick will probably not last as long as some of the other lipsticks you own as it does not contain any preservatives.
Dr PawPaw Tinted Ultimate Red Balm
Dr PawPaw Tinted Ultimate Red Balm
Last but by no means least is the Dr PawPaw Tinted Ultimate Red Balm, which is limited edition for Christmas and is the perfect handbag must have, the tinted balm can be used on the lips, cheeks and cosmetic finishing. Containing natural ingredients such as fermented Paw Paw, Olive oil and Aloe Vera Oil
You can find the Look Fantastic Beauty Box No2 (£15) at lookfantastic.com where you can purchase either a box each month with no subscription or you can purchase a subscription for either 3,6 or 12 months.

  • I see a lot of bloggers/instagrammers in particular slating and trashing products when they didn't see results.

Just because something doesn't work for you it doesn't mean it's a bad product it just means it's not right for you.

Personally I can't use a lot of L-ascorbic acid products because my skin just doesn't get on well with it, this doesn't mean it's a bad product it just doesn't work for me.

I feel like we need to be more objective when talking about products instead of making instant snap decisions.

If a product isn't working for you, ask yourself: how long have you been using it for? Are your expectations realistic? And finally is it your skin that's the problem not the product? .

  • Probably one of my most favourite products ever!
@pixibeautyuk Glow Tonic was one of the first actives I ever used, I bought a bottle when I was in London with @jaynekitsch years ago when they only had their London store and it honestly changed everything! That's when I became hooked on skincare because of how much i saw my skin change.

I have a review coming out tomorrow for this superstar product, keep an eye out for it ❤️

  • "If you can't pronounce it dont use it"

I see this myth a lot and it really bugs me! It's completely baseless and is created in fear.
Just because you can't pronounce a chemical name it doesn't mean it's somehow bad for you.

For example Dipeptide Diaminobutyroyl Benzylamide Diacetate sounds scary it's a long name but that's no reason to fear it because it's just a cell communicating ingredient that is often known as "Botox in a bottle"
Fear is such a pervasive thing in the skincare industry a lot of brands sell their products based on fear and we honestly need to get over this fear and to realise that must because something has a long name we can't pronounce it doesn't mean it's bad for you.

Next time you pick up a product then put it back because it has too many ingredients you can't pronounce just remember that it's all about the formula. You should be objectively thinkkng about the formula instead of jumping to fear every time.

  • *UPDATED SKINCARE ROUTINE*

CLEANSER - @fprescottskin i honestly don't think I'll ever use another cleanser apart from the @dermalogicauk special cleanse when I'm at the gym. I have talked about how much I love Tribalm. It's the best balm cleanser I've ever use not to mention it's so travel friendly too.

TONE - This isn't a toner but I usually this in the place where toner should be. I've been using the new @drdennisgross (*gifted) Resurfacing Liquid Peel for a while and it's pretty awesome. There's no percentage so I'm not sure how strong it is but I use this every other day and the off days I just use the Alpha Beta Peel Pads.
SERUM - @skinceuticals_uki H.A Intensifier (*gifted) I am absolutely in love with this! While it's on the higher end of the spectrum being quite expensive it's so worth it in my opinion. Instead of being a bog standard hyaluronic acid this serum actually helps to amplify the skins natural hyaluronic acid levels which I find fascinating. It contains high levels of HA as well as Proxylane and purple rice extract.

EYE SERUM - @alphahskincare Absolute Eye Complex (*gifted) this was sent to me a while back and I only just remembered I had it so I thought I'd give it a go. Usually I don't care for eye creams unless they are active because to be it's essentially useless paying for more for a small amount of moisturiser in a tube.

TREATMENT - @paulaschoiceuk
1% clinical strength retinol - this has to be the single strongest over the counter retinol on the market, definitely not for first time use. If there was a otc retinol that I had to choose it would be this one everytime.

MOISTURISER - @stubborncosmetics
Custom Made Moisturiser *gifted - I have said this many times but I'll say it again, I have so much love for this moisturiser it's so good to find something customised to you rather than just hoping something will work.

  • I feel like a lot of the times lactic acid is overlooked in favour of glycolic. Lactic acid can be a massive help to those with dry skin.

First and foremost Lactic acid is an alpha hydroxy acid and unlike glycolic acid, lactic acid works on the surface level to left of any dead skin cells.

I like to compare Lactic acid to Pac man munching away at the dead skin cells.
Lactic acid is a fantastic moisturising ingredient, it's so good that there's even a prescription product called LacHydrin (12% lactic acid) that is used to hydrate chronically dry skin.

My favourite lactic acid used to be @sundayriley Good Genes but since they have reformulated it to be glycolic now I'm on the hunt for a new version. I had heard that @deciem does a really good 5% and 10% Lactic acid that I need to revisit.

  • Everyone knows that I love pixi, Glow Tonic has to be one of my all time favourite products simply because it's so effective ❤️ I was recently sent a bunch of new pixi products to try and DetoxifEYE Depuffing Eye Patches were apart of that package and I wanted to talk about them.

While I hate the name of the product because no matter what anyone ever tells you you can't detoxify the skin by using a topical product it just isn't possible the role of detoxifing goes to the kidneys and not the skin.
Despite the god awful name, the product is actually pretty good. They do a good job of depuffing the eyes.

Each patch is made from hydrogel and doesn't slip down your face so you don't have to walk around face up to the sky haha

The main component of these patches is caffeine which is a vasoconstrictor that tightens the skin getting rid of the puffiness temporarily.

The patches also say they contain gold but I'm not even going to entertain that as one of the ingredients because gold does nothing for the skin topically despite many brands trying to convince you otherwise.

I tend to use these in the PM before bed but you can use them in the morning before you apply your makeup .
