Top 5 Beauty Bits You Have To Try

Hey Beauties!

It’s always hard to narrow down your favourite products but i think i got a good mix of things to show you, these are my Top 5 Beauty Bits You Have To Try. I tried to go for things across the range from hair, makeup, skin care.

Daniel Sandler Invisible Radiance Foundation

The Daniel Sandler Invisible Radiance Foundation (£28) was one of those products i had seen a lot of people using, i had first saw it being used in a Pixiwoo video and thought it looked beautiful! So I simply had to have it. Invisible Radiance Foundation comes with a little spatula when you open it up which is good because usually I don’t like foundations without pumps. What makes this foundation even more amazing is that it comes with a concealer in the lid that is the same shade as the foundation. I don’t know about you but for me i always found it hard to get a good foundation that matched up with a concealer. Invisible Radiance Foundation is a sheer coverage foundation that is buildable to medium, the concealer is a higher coverage that will take care of any problem areas.

label.men grooming cream

label. men Grooming Cream (£10.50) is a lightweight, versatile cream that can be used in the hair either wet or dry. It gives you some really gorgeous texture without making the hair stiff or unworkable. I find when I use this in wet hair and blow dry it, I get a really nice finish to my hair without it being weighed down and I can still run my fingers through it, this is important to me because sometimes I hate that product feeling in your hair. label. men Grooming Cream is also great when used in dry hair I tend to use a lot less in dry hair than wet because I don’t want it to be all stuck together clumpy. When I put it into my hair dry i get really nice texture and definition which to me is what I look for in a product.

Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser's Invisible Oil Shampoo

Without a shadow of a doubt Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo (£23) is my favourite shampoo ever! I know that’s a bold claim to make but nothing makes my hair feel better than this. I’ve bought around 5/6 bottles of this and at £23 each you know it must do something for me to spend that much on a shampoo. This shampoo makes your hair so soft it’s unbelievable, you might think because its got 6 oils in it that its going to weigh your hair down and make it greasy but that’s not the case because oils are really important to our hair they help to do a number of things. Bumble and Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Shampoo helps to soften, silken, tame, de-frizz, detangle and protect your hair, being also sulfate free its great for those of you who colour your hair a lot as you’ll find it will repair your hair but also protect your hair

Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser

Nip + Fab Kale Fix Moisturiser (£19.95) is one of those products i didn’t know i needed until  i read a review on it. I am quite skeptical of all this Kale chatter and how its amazing and everyone should use it because 10 years ago it was a plate garnish that no one touched and now its all the rage. I’ve been using Kale Fix Moisturiser for a while now and since i have dry skin this has been a lifesaver as Kale Fix Moisturiser contains a superfood powerhouse complex of kale, watercress and almond oil to enrich skin with deep vitamin nourishment and protects against external aggressions that can cause dry skin. Concentrated aloe vera and shea butter help to further soothe and improve skin texture, providing long-lasting hydration.

Makeup Revolution Velvet Matte Lip Lacquer

The Makeup Revolution Velvet Matte Lip Lacquer (£3.99) was something i discovered at Christmas when this gorgeous colour was part of a set and I have been loving it ever since. If you know me you’ll know that i love a deep dark purple…it might be the little emo inside of me from my teenage years haha. Velvet Matte Lip Lacquer reminds me so much of the Lime Crime Velvetines being that they are very matte and literally won’t come off until you use a really good makeup remover.

What are your favourite products?

  • When people ask "what do I use for darkness under the eyes" it's can be a complicated issue because it's not always pigmentation.

When dealing with dark circles under the eyes it can be due to the pigmentation in the skin so you will need to look for tyrosinase inhibitors like kojic acid as well as azelaic acid which can brighten an area over time
Darkness under the eyes can also comes from things like thin skin and lack of fat pads under the eyes, you can essentially see the darkness under the skin through the skin because the orbital area is hollow
Shadows can be casted by either having too much or not enough fat pad.

This can corrected by using products that thicken the epidermis, glycolic acid is fantastic for this has it thickens the skin over time, there are more permanent fixes as well uses a the use of fillers.

Fillers are injected into the undereye area to simulate the presence of fat pads taking away the darkness. .

  • *GIFTED I love the formula of this sunscreen but I'm not too keen on how it's marketed as if somehow it's better than others because it's "clean". The whole "clean" skincare movement is something I dont agree with because it's not based on anything scientific and if I'm honest i feel like it uses people's fears against them in the sense that people have such an unfounded fear of toxic, dangerous ingredients in skincare.

I just really don't like when brands claim their products are clean as if other products are dirty and dangerous which just isn't the case.

This is an inorganic filter (physical) SPF 30 which uses 22% Zinc Oxide which is broad spectrum it's not more effective or cleaner than organic (chemical) filters.

Besides the way it's marketed I really like the actual product, the stuff inside. It goes on really well and spreads easily despite being silicone free. It also layers well under makeup without changing the colour of your makeup.

I haven't tried on deeper skin tones but I doubt this sunscreen will be suitable because of the high zinc oxide content which tends to look really ashy on deeper skin tones.

I just want to say as a last thing don't be afraid of organic (chemical) sunscreens, they aren't dangerous they aren't bad for you and just because something is inorganic (physical) it doesn't mean it's somehow cleaner.
Sunscreens are put through an incredible amount of testing to make sure they are safe, effective and fit for purpose. Don't fall for the fearmongering.

  • Theres an idea floating around that the skin needs to breathe but this is just a myth.

The skin doesn't breathe and you don't need to let it breathe. Your pores have absolutely nothing to do with breathing and covering them won't suffocate your skin.

The idea that ingredients can suffocate the skin is just very old school thing the one most talked about is silicone which contrary to popular belief is actually really good for the skin.

Silicone gives your skin that really nice slip when applying products not to mention it also protects your skin by forming s barrier again the outside world, but thing can still get through as the shape of silicone is like a big hollow circle with branches so it doesn't suffocate your skin.

If you see people saying you need to let your skin breathe you can now tell them the truth!

  • I see this all the time people talking about shrinking their pores by using hot water and closing them with cold water but this simply isn’t possible
There are no muscles connected to the pore so there is no way for them to open and close. The size of pores is largely down to genetics and there is not much you can do to change that.

He only muscle that can be found is the arrector pili which causes goose bumps by pulling the hairs up on your skin but it doesn’t have anything to do with your pores and tightening them.
When you see an enlarged pore it doesn’t mean it’s open it most likely means it’s congested with dead skin cells and hardened sebum however you can fix this by using something like salicylic acid which can penetrate the pore lining and flush everything out making the pore appear smaller.

While there are products out there that can blur and temporarily tighten the skin there is nothing permanent out there that can change the size of pores.
