To me, hyaluronic acid is one of the most important things you could have in your skincare routine as people tend to downplay the benefits of hydration. Properly hydrated skin is a plump glowing youthful-looking skin which everyone seems to be striving for these days.
What is it?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a large sugar molecule known as a ” polysaccharide ” its made from repeating subunits. The main uses of hyaluronic acid are as a moisturiser, HA is a humectant which means it has the ability to draw moisture to itself.
HA comes in 2 forms, low provides hydration to the surface level of your skin and high which is able to be absorbed into the skin down into the epidermis.
What does it do?
HA will hydrate the skin and in mature skin types it tends to have quite a plumping effect as we get older we tend to lose our stores of hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is also great for dry skin as you can often get superficial dehydration lines that can be plumped and smoothed away with the use of HA.
HA is probably one of a very few ingredients where you’ll see results straight away.
How do you use it?
I tend to use it in both my AM and PM routines as you can never have too much hydration. Hyaluronic acid is usually applied straight after cleansing as it can be used as a penetration enhancer for your later serums. You will find that with a hydrated skin your products will work better.

When will I see results?
With HA you will see results immediately but with continued use, you will notice your skin is more evenly hydrated. HA isn’t something you have wait months to work you will often notice immediately that your skin feels much plumper and hydrated.
Where to buy?
You can find this serum online at Cult Beauty for £5.99* or in stores like Boots for £5.99*
Just as a note this serum might look small but it does contain 30ml like the other standard sizes of HA out there.
